Medals Awarded by Starfleet Command’s Seventh Fleet

Federation Medal of Honor

This is the highest award of the United Federation of Planets. It is recommended by the Commander in Chief of the Fleet. Captain James T. Kirk had earned this award during his Starfleet career. See TOS Episode “Court martial”. Lt. Commander Data has also earned this award as well. See TNG Episode “Measure of a Man”.

Christopher Pike Medal of Valor

This is the highest award of Starfleet Command. This medal can be recommended by a Commanding Officer of a Seventh Fleet Chapter. Named after Fleet Captain Christopher Pike. Captain Benjamin Sisko earned this award during his Starfleet career. See DS9 Episode “Tears of the Prophets”. Captain Solok was twice honored with the Christopher Pike Medal of Valor. See DS9 Episode “Take Me Out to the Holosuite.”

            James T Kirk Command Medal

Awarded to Starship Commanders who complete three consecutive tours of duty. A tour of duty consists of five consecutive years. It is recommended by Admiral Dennis Hollinger.

Seventh Fleet Command Seventh Fleet Staff

Earned by commanding the Seventh Fleet or holding a position as a member of the Commander in Chief’s Staff. It is awarded by the Captain’s Council in recognition for service to the fleet.

Given to a Starship Commander for a tour of duty. It is a recommended by the Commander in Chief of the Fleet or the Chapter’s previous Commanding Officer. Now each Commanding Officer will design the medal for his/her chapter. Another addition with this medal includes a second option. The Gold Command Medal are awarded to those who are officially listed on Starfleet Command records as holding command of the chapter. The Silver Command Medal can be earned by the Executive Officers or anyone who served as acting Commanding Officer for a limited time (such as a weekend) but was not listed on records.
