- Complete Time in Grade requirement of three months
- Complete Academy Basic Course #1

To reach the rank of Ensign-
- Complete Time in Grade requirement of six months
- Complete Academy Basic Course #2
- Earn 15 Participation Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 15 Knowledge Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 15 Service Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 15 Leadership Promotional Merit Points
To reach the rank of Lieutenant (junior grade)- (minimum rank for department chief)
- Complete Time in Grade requirement of nine months
- Pass two Selected Merit Sheets
- Pass one Command Selected Merit Sheets
- Participate in a Fleet or Chapter Community Service event **
- Earn 25 Participation Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 25 Knowledge Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 25 Service Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 25 Leadership Promotional Merit Points
To reach the rank of Lieutenant- (minimum rank for Runabout CO)
- Complete Time in Grade requirement of twelve months
- Pass four Selected Merit Sheets
- Pass two Command Selected Merit Sheets
- Recommend a Fleet or Chapter Community Service event **
- Attend the Seventh Fleet Leadership Class **
- Earn 50 Participation Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 50 Knowledge Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 50 Service Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 50 Leadership Promotional Merit Points
To reach the rank of Lieutenant Commander- (recognized at Admiral’s Banquet)
- Complete Time in Grade requirement of sixteen months
- Pass eight Selected Merit Sheets
- Pass two Command Selected Merit Sheets
- Assist a fellow member organizing a Fleet or Chapter Community Service event **
- Earn 100 Participation Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 100 Knowledge Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 100 Service Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 100 Leadership Promotional Merit Points
- Complete one Command Project **
- Attend one Out-of-Area Star Trek/Science Road Trip *
- Plan two chapter activities **
- Pass a Command Test (score 80%+)
- Pass Admiralty Review Board (after previous requirements completed)
To reach the rank of Commander- (recognized at Admiral’s Banquet)
- Complete Time in Grade requirement of twenty-four months
- Design ten Merit Sheets (approved by CO)
- Organize a Fleet or Chapter Community Service event **
- Earn 150 Participation Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 250 Knowledge Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 250 Service Promotional Merit Points
- Earn 150 Leadership Promotional Merit Points
- Plan one Out-of-Area Star Trek/Science Road Trip *
- Command Simulator Mission **
- Complete four Admiralty Projects
- Own your own Star Trek uniform *
- Pass Admiralty Review Board (after previous requirements completed)
