This is a list of possible Promotional Merit Points (PMPs) that can be reported for rank advancement if reported on a Monthly Duty Report. If a member completes an item that isn’t on this list, but they think may be worth points, they are encouraged to report it on their Duty Report. The decision on accepting the items or what points they are worth is up to the chapter’s CO and/or XO. 

PARTICIPATION- (Attendance of activities, purchasing Star Trek paraphernalia and having fun)

• Attend the MONTHLY SHIP ACTIVITY or OTHER SHIP ACTIVITY-
• Attend your own DEPARTMENT MEETING-
• Attend AWAY TEAM-
• Participate in PERSONAL Science Fiction Activities (must make a report on it)-
• Attend OTHER fan club on your own. (Must have report on it. attached to your report)-
• Participate in a STAR TREK GAMING EVENT-
• Participate in a STAR TREK GAMING COMPETITION-
• Attend AREA STAR TREK CONVENTION-
• Attend OUT-OF-STATE STAR TREK CONVENTION-
• Acquire first STARFLEET UNIFORM-
• Wear UNIFORM in Public or at Activities-
• Purchase Chapter or Fleet MERCHANDISE-
• Purchase your own STAR TREK MERCHANDISE and COLLECTIBLES-
• Complete and pass a Participation based MERIT SHEET-

 KNOWLEDGE- (Learning about Star Trek and the Universe around us)

• Take ADVANCED ACADEMY EXAM (with score reported)-
• Take COMMAND TEST (with score reported)-
• Complete and pass Knowledge based MERIT SHEET-
• Submit a Star Trek BOOK REPORT-
• TRIVIA COMPETITION with fellow Fleet member (report rank of opponent)-
• TRIVIA COMPETITION at a CONVENTION or other event-
• MEMORIZATION of a Category-
• MEMORIZE one complete season’s EPISODE TITLES, in order-
• VIEW EPISODES (To be tested)-
• CREATE A WORD PUZZLE or GAME (Use 50 terms)-
• PURCHASE STAR TREK ENCYCLOPEDIA or CONCORDANCE-
• OBTAIN latest issue of CHAPTER’S NEWSLETTER-
• School GRADE POINT AVERAGE per quarter/term (with reported average)-
• EARN DIPLOMA/GRADUATION CERTIFICATE: (with level reported)-
• Complete MILITARY TRAINING (report intensity of training and program learned)-
• CONTINUED EDUCATION COURSES (CPR, First Aid, Swimming, Reading, Hunter Safety, Lifeguard, Cooking, Sewing, etc. depending upon course length)-
• Non-ST BOOK REPORT/RESEARCH PAPERS (original work only, must be pre-approved)-
• Write an original TREK FANFIC (minimum 5,000 words)-
• Write an original (Non-Trek) NOVEL or STORY (minimum 5,000 words)-
• BOY SCOUT/GIRL SCOUT/YOUTH GROUP/MILITARY/WORK ADVANCEMENT Improvement in rank, badges, promotion, etc. (must be approved by Command Staff)-
• WORK CONSISTENCY Maintaining a steady job builds experience, a good resume and can improve work ethics (per year)-
• START a new JOB-

SERVICE- (Helping our community, ship and fellow crewmembers in the Star Trek spirit)

• DEPARTMENTAL ASSIGNMENT (recommended by Department Head)-
• COMMAND STAFF PROJECT (Completed with Report)-
• PERSONAL PROJECT (Completed with Report)-
• Completed PERSONAL PROJECT that you SHARE WITH THE GROUP-
• HELP OTHERS with their projects-
• DONATE to SHIP or FLEET FUND-
• CLEAN-UP CREW at ACTIVITIES-
• DONATE BOOKS/VIDEOS to SHIP’S LIBRARY (20 points Max per item)-
• DONATE to CHAPTER or FLEET AUCTION/YARDSALE-
• SERVE at a CONVENTION-
• COMMUNITY SERVICE on behalf of the CHAPTER/FLEET (approved by Command Staff)-
• Participating in CHAPTER or FLEET FUND RAISER-
• TURN in a RE-PRINTED ARTICLE or ARTWORK for the NEWSLETTER-
• TURN in an ORIGINAL ARTICLE or ARTWORK for the NEWSLETTER-
• Write a POSTAL LETTER to a Star Trek pen pal or write for information and share the response-
• Provide a RIDE for CHAPTER/FLEET members to meetings/activities
• Help PAY for GAS while carpooling to a CHAPTER/FLEET activity-
• POST a COMMENT with service-based information on a Fleet related website/message board/group
• TEACH a COMMUNITY course (CPR, life skills, etc.)-
• VOTE in any public election (each level can be counted separately)-
• Attend your city or county COUNCIL MEETINGS-
• Fill a SCHOOL BOARD position-
• Fill a council or other city appointed POSITION-
• Become a MAYOR, COUNCIL MEMBER or government LEADER-
• Participate in BIG BROTHER/BIG SISTER type program or ADOPT A GRANDPARENT-
• BRING brother/sister/parent/grandparent to CLUB ACTIVITY/MEETING (minimum of two meetings)-
• Become a BOY SCOUT/GIRL SCOUT/YOUTH GROUP LEADER/COACH-
• Complete and pass Service based MERIT SHEET-

LEADERSHIP- (Training others, experience, planning and conducting activities)

• CREATE AN ORIGINAL CHAPTER FLYER introducing the club (Flyer must receive authorization from the Command Staff before distribution)-
• Make a PRESENTATION to the club; teach a class, etc.-
• PLAN a ship ACTIVITY-
• SUGGESTIONS for ship ACTIVITIES (That are used)-
• CONDUCT a ship wide meeting-
• HOST a DEPARTMENT MEETING-
• PLAN a DEPARTMENT MEETING-
• LEAD an AWAY TEAM-
• Become a DEPARTMENT CHIEF or Command Staff Member (One time only)-
• Become an ASSISTANT DEPARTMENT CHIEF (One time only)-
• Provide DEPARTMENT TRAINING to keep members active-
• ASSIST in raising department member’s rank-
• Put together a WRITTEN MONTHLY LOG-
• INTRODUCE NEW MEMBERS to the ship (They must report it on their application)-
• ATTEND a chapter or fleet STAFF MEETING-
• HOST a chapter STAFF MEETING-
• PRESENT A GIFT TO A STAR on behalf of the Chapter (pre-approved by Command Staff before event)-
• Earn 1-YEAR SERVICE AWARD-
• RUN/GM a GAMING EVENT (RPG, cards, board, computer, etc.)-
• REPORT PROGRESS of DEPARTMENT to CAPTAIN preferably written but can be oral or part of newsletter-
• ORGANIZE and COORDINATE volunteer work-
• Complete and pass Leadership based MERIT SHEET-

DEMERITS- (When needed.  These demerits are subtracted from any previously earned Promotional Merit Points)

• MISSING STAFF MEETING by Department Chief or replacement-
• DISOBEYING A SUPERIOR OFFICER-
• Turning in LATE WORK-
• NOT FOLLOWING THROUGH with an assignment or activity-
• BACK-BITING or contributing to RUMORS about crewmembers-
• NEGATIVE COMMENTS about the ship and its organization-
• IMPROPER CONDUCT by a crewmember-
