Welcome USS Protostar on Star Trek: Prodigy

Star Trek Prodigy premiers on October 28th

The latest Star Trek series is about to take off. Star Trek: Prodigy is airing on Paramount+ on Thursday, October 28th. It is created by CBS Eye Animation Studios for Nickelodeon and Paramount+. It features a crew of lawless teenagers who find the experimental USS Protostar and use it to escape the dire situation they are in. While onboard, they discover that the Protostar is equipped with a Holographic Training Program based off of Captain Kathryn Janeway of the USS Voyager.

Star Trek: Prodigy is the first Star Trek series to be animated by computer rendered imaging and and 3D modeling. The Short Treks episode “The Girl Who Made The Stars” was also produced this way.

Here are the characters we will meet on Star Trek: Prodigy.

Dal voiced by Brett Gray
Gwyn voiced by Ella Purnell
Murf voiced by Dee Bradley Baker and Rok-Tahk voiced by Rylee Alazraqui
Zero voiced by Angus Imrie
Jankom Pog voiced by Jason Mantzoukas
Janeway Hologram voiced by Kate Mulgrew

Robert Beltran has confirmed that he will be voicing Chakotay in this series. We don’t know if this is a cameo or a regular appearance. Jason Alexander will be returning to Star Trek with a new role for Prodigy (again we don’t know how many appearances). John Nobel (from Lord of the Rings and Fringe) will be voicing a character known as The Diviner. There is also the return of a character from The Next Generation. But we don’t want to say who it is because (River Song voice) “Spoilers.”

Check out the pilot episode “Lost & Found” on Paramount+ on October 28th.
