No fooling, it’s April. A time of Easter, Taxes and our first local conventions starting up. Members of the Fleet will be present at Ogden-Con on Saturday April 4 at the Ogden Union Station (next to the Frontrunner stop). This will run from 10am to 5pm and admission is only $5/adults $3/cosplayers with kids 10 and under free. This is one of the mini-conventions that Dr. Trek (Larry Nemecek) was encouraging more fans to attend. The USS Ticonderoga will have their Borg Alcove and TOS Transporter Console available for photo ops.
The 2026 Fleet Day is coming up quick on Saturday, July 18. The USS Ticonderoga will be hosting this event as part of their 30th Anniversary celebration. The plan is to hold this at the Weber County Southwest Branch in Roy, Utah. There will be both indoor and outdoor events. This is a family friendly event that is open to all members and interested parties. This is only one of two events that the Fleet plans for the year.
Don’t forget that safety should be at the forefront when you start with your outdoor activities. One of the events that the State of Utah holds every April is the Great Utah Shakeout coming up on April 16th. This is a state-wide earthquake drill that starts at 10:15 am. Information on how to prepare for this drill and how you can protect yourself from earthquakes can be found at the link just posted above.
We are looking for a host for the 2027 Admiral’s Banquet next January. We are also looking for new locations to hold the banquet at. If you happen to visit a community center, banquet hall or other gathering location that you think could hold 100 people, please find the details and pass them onto your Commanding Officer.
