Hailing Frequencies Open January 2026

Hailing Frequencies Open logo

After a disastrous year of 2025, we are more than happy to enter 2026. Hopefully it will be a year of peace and growth for us all as we make our world a better place in the future. We would like to encourage everyone to reach out to those in need, make yourself better by personal growth or just do one thing a day that makes a difference. Let’s make this a better year to remember.

January 3rd will be our 28th Anniversary as an organization. We would like to thank every member who volunteered their time, energy and effort. Even it it was just showing up and participating at the meetings and activities. We wouldn’t have been able to do this without you.

As our tradition, we hold the Admiral’s Banquet in January to celebrate our anniversary. This year, the USS Rendezvous is hosting the event at the enclosed pavilion at the Trenton Park on Saturday the 24th. Note, this is not the same building we’ve met at previously in Richmond as originally intended. The address is 14 W. Main Street, Trenton, UT. The doors will open at 11:00am with the meal of soup and salad starting around 12:30pm This is a time where the Admiralty celebrates the members and acknowledges the accomplishments of the past year.

Also in January is the premier of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. This will be aired on Paramount+ on Thursday the 15th. Several trailers have already been released and there are a lot of returning Star Trek alumni who will be on the show. Watch it together as a group and then tell us what you think about it on our Discord Server, our Facebook Page, our BlueSky Account or just email us at Join@SeventhFleet.org.

Hailing Frequencies Open December 2025

Hailing Frequencies Open logo

The month of November was a busy one for the nanites working on the Seventh Fleet website. Almost 2,700 photos were uploaded to the Seventh Fleet Photo Albums going all the way back to 1988 (before we started as a parent organization). We were able to identify most of the individuals in the photos and the events that they were taken at. But we may have messed up a few. Corrections have already been sent in (and updated). Thank you. These photos were also meta tagged by event and chapter. Thus when you click on one of the pages for that chapter, you will find a link to all of their photos (and blog posts). We want more photos from the events that you have just enjoyed as well as those from past events. Please send them to Photos@SeventhFleet.org.

With it also being December, it’s time to get your orders in for the 2026 Seventh Fleet Calendar. The publisher was able to give us a good bid so we could keep the cost at $10 a calendar. This will run from January 2026 to January 2027. Contact your CO ASAP if you would like to order one.

Another notice about December that we would like to pass along is the warning about the weather. Travel can get hazardous over the next few months, so be careful out there. Especially traveling to see friends and family for the upcoming holidays.

The Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet is coming up next month on Saturday, January 24th (note, this isn’t the last Saturday of the month). It will be held in Richmond, Utah. For additional details, contact your chapter CO. This will be hosted by the USS Rendezvous.

Did you have a good Thanksgiving? Tell us about it on our Discord Server, our Facebook Page, our BlueSky Account or just email us at Join@SeventhFleet.org.

Congratulations To:
Lieutenant Josh Sorensen for being named the Acting Executive Officer of the USS Pulsar

Another FanX has come and gone and we had a ton of fun. We got to meet a lot of new friends, raise some money for a good charity and play a lot of Artemis. If you are checking out our website after the convention, welcome. We hope you reach out to us soon using the information on our Online Interest Page, on our Discord Server, our Facebook Page, our BlueSky Account or just email us at Join@SeventhFleet.org.

The Seventh Fleet booth before the convention starts.

We would like to thank the many, many volunteers and members from the USS White Buffalo, USS Roanoke, USS Pulsar, USS Ticonderoga, USS Kelly, USS Delaware, USS Valkyrie and USS Rendezvous. Not only for helping out with the booth or Artemis, but for helping out with the convention or even just stopping by to say hello to members of the Star Trek family. We truly Do Not Stand Alone. We would also like to thank Dan Farr, the FanX Staff and volunteers for all of the help they provided that allowed us to fulfill our community service charter. We also made sure to thank the police officers who were present keeping us safe at the event. Their patrols and K9 units were noticed and appreciated.

Have you been listening to Star Trek: Khan audio drama or seen the new Star Trek Scouts aimed at very young fans? We will link both of the first episodes below for your enjoyment.

We need your geeky photos!!!!! Not only for the soon-to-be updated Photo Albums, but for the 2026 Seventh Fleet Calendar. Please send them to Photos@SeventhFleet.org. Please identify the people in the photo. We had a lot of people tell us how impressed the past calendars were when they visited us at the FanX booth.

The nanites are still polishing up various sections of the website. We still plan to tackle the photo albums and Seventh Fleet Council page soon. If you see anything out of place or have suggestions, please email Webmaster@SeventhFleet.org.

Hailing Frequencies Open September 2025

Hailing Frequencies Open logo

Welcome to the start of the New Star Year. We are probably hearing a few head scratches out there? New Star Year? Well as you know, the stardate is usually listed when a character is giving a log entry on the show. Well in The Original Series, and in the early episodes of The Next Generation, there wasn’t really a fully fleshed out system for the numbers to the Gregorian calendar that we use in modern times. It was a plot device to make the show seemed futuristic like warp drive and phasers. The numbers were randomly selected (but were usually higher later in the season) and there wasn’t really a pattern to them. Roddenberry attempted to explain that the stardates were set by where the vessel was at a certain moment and…. well lets just say even he didn’t know 100% how they worked. When The Next Generation was first being produced the production staff attempted to standardize them for the show. For the first season of TNG, all of the stardates started with 41xxx.x. When the second season started in September of 1988, the stardates had moved to 42xxx.x. This continued with DS9 and Voyager so that the episodes that aired after September of 1996 started with stardate 50xxx.x. So in the Seventh Fleet we adopted this as the year mark. The next two numbers after the year was the month, and the last two numbers (even with the period in them) was the day. So today’s stardate is 79080.1 (September 1, 2025). The official launch date of the Seventh Fleet is January 3, 1998 which is Stardate 51010.3. The first Star Trek convention was held on January 31, 1972 or Stardate 26013.1. Here is a quick breakdown for reference following this pattern.

September 1960-August 1970 = 14090.1 to 23083.1
September 1970-August 1980 = 24090.1 to 33083.1
September 1980-August 1990 = 34090.1 to 43083.1
September 1990-August 2000 = 44090.1 to 53083.1
September 2000-August 2010 = 54090.1 to 63083.1
September 2010-August 2020 = 64090.1 to 73083.1
September 2020-August 2030 = 74090.1 to 83083.1

We’ve had some changes in command to two of our chapters and a new chapter-in-training launched. Lt. Julie Henkes is now the Acting Commanding Officer of the USS Kelly after getting voted in by her crew, the former CO and the Admiralty. Lt. Commander Dawn Woods is staying on as the Executive Officer of the USS Kelly. The former CO, Lt. Commander Jill Bogler-Patterson and her husband, Crewman Bob Patterson are joining Admiral Stark’s staff to assist him with his duties. Captain Joe Colflesh is launching a new chapter-in-training in the St. George, Utah area. This will be the USS Roanoke NCC-74634 launched off of the USS Pulsar formerly commanded by Captain Colflesh. The Pulsar’s Executive Officer, Commander Michelle Ludeking, is moving into the position of Commanding Officer with 2nd Officer Lt. Commander Evelyn Durrant moving up to the role of Executive Officer. Congratulations to everyone on their new position.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds season three is more than half done. There have been some very interesting and excellent episodes so far. “What is Starfleet” had a very touching episode even with the documentary format. We are looking forward to the last batch of episodes as well as the new audio drama Star Trek: Khan.

Our charity for FanX: The Salt Lake Comic Convention will be R.E.A.C.H. (Raising Education Through Arts Characters and Heroes). This 501c3 charity teaches anti-bullying literacy, history and art. Every year FanX gives us the opportunity to perform our community service charter. Instead of a booth on the floor, we will be coordinating our efforts with the Starship Frontier Artemis Bridge Simulator. Feel free to come visit us there.

We are taking down our online interest form for the time being as we still haven’t been able to get it to work. If you are interested in being contacted by one of our chapters, please email your name, phone number and local city to Join@SeventhFleet.org and we will route it to the nearest Seventh Fleet chapter. You can also talk to us on our Facebook page, on our Discord server or by following us on our BlueSky account.

As we have mentioned before, September 1st is the date we are adopting our Version 4.0 of the new rank advancement system. If you are close to earning your next rank, we are grandfathering those individuals in. Contact your CO or XO for details. Over the next few weeks you’ll see the updated information being added to our blog posts and in our rank section of the fleet website. If you have any questions at all, again contact your CO or XO or Info@SeventhFleet.org and we will try to answer them.

If you missed out on the 2025 Fleet Day held in Roy, Utah this year, you missed out. The owner of The Queen’s Realm was very impressed with the events that we had that day. She posted a photo contest on her Facebook page (shared to the Seventh Fleet Facebook page) and if you appeared in one of the photos, stop by the store for a prize. Several store patrons stopped by to check out all of the fun that we were having. Several members also came up to us afterwards and said it was better than they were expecting. To Captain Joe Colflesh, thank you for coordinating all of the volunteers who ran games. There were quite a few trivia based games (if you participated, put that down on your duty report) and several members brought games of their own designs. To the game masters, thank you for volunteering your time to run these for our Star Trek family. The USS Ticonderoga is hosing the 2026 Fleet Day on Saturday, July 18th. It will be a return to the traditional format at a park in Clearfield.

Have you been watching the latest season of Strange New Worlds. Wow, they have pulled out a few different interesting episodes. Some that have had major connections to the continuity of the entire franchise. Some of these have been very interesting. Also the teasers and trailers that came out of the San Diego convention have been interesting to watch as well. If you haven’t seen them, here’s a few of them.

There are some big changes coming up to our rank advancement system that will go into effect on September 1, 2025. For more information, contact your Commanding Officer. There will be more options and some streamlining of our current system depending upon your level of interest.

We are still trying to fix our online interest form with little success. We are about to move to a different plugin all together. If you’ve submitted a form and have not received any response, please let us know by emailing us at Join@SeventhFleet.org and let us know which chapter you would like to have reach out to you. Hailing Frequencies Open July 2025

Hailing Frequencies Open logo

Welcome to the hot summer month of July. This is a time that a lot of fireworks are set off, so be sure to keep safety in mind. We don’t want any reports of missing body parts or worse.

Two big events are happening this month. First is the third-season premier of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It has been far too long since we’ve had some new Star Trek to watch. So let’s get together and have watch parties to welcome the new episodes.

July 19th is the date for Fleet Day. This is our summer games event. This will be held on Saturday, July 19th from 11:00am to 7:00pm. The location is The Queen’s Realm (5451 S. 1900 W., Roy, UT). We will be having a massive indoor gaming event this year with roleplaying games, board games, tactical games, card games and more. Yes, we will have the popular Liars Dice tournament. This will primarily be Star Trek games, but other science-fiction games will be present as well (such as a Stargate RPG). Instead of being catered this year, you can bring your own lunch from one of the many restaurants that are nearby. The Admiral’s Challenge will be the last event of the day. This Fleet event is open to all members and interested visitors.

We have some sad news to report. Carol Mahoney, who was a member of the USS Kelly in the 90’s and early 2000’s, passed away on May 27th according to a FaceBook post by her daughter. Apparently she had been in hospice. This news comes as a shock to those of us who knew her. Admiral Stark was able to meet up with her again when she visited the Seventh Fleet boot at FanX several years ago. Her services will be held on June 21st.

Now we have an official release date for the third season premier episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. It will be on Thursday, July 17th. The titles will be:

  • Hegemony, part II
  • Wedding Bell Blues
  • Shuttle to Kenfori
  • A Space Adventure Hour
  • Through the Lens of Time
  • The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail
  • What is Starfleet?
  • Four-and-a-Half Vulcans
  • Terrarium
  • New Life and New Civilizations

It’s time to start planning for the upcoming games at the 2025 Fleet Day.

Well we have a premier date for season three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds… kinda. There will be a special premier on June 14 at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. While an official announcement for when the series will premier on Paramount+, it is logical to assume that it will be quickly after that. New episodes are usually released on Thursday, which could indicate June 19th. For those of you who haven’t seen the teaser trailer for season three, here it is.

And speaking of video clips… we just don’t know what to think of this one.

It is with a sad heart that we announce that Star Trek Actor and friend of the Seventh Fleet, Craig Richard Nelson, passed away on March 3, 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 77 years old. He had made two Star Trek appearances on The Next Generation and Voyager. He lived in Utah and was a guest at the 2004 Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet and at various local science-fiction conventions. He was very gracious to the local Star Trek fans and will be missed greatly. His online obituary can be found here.

This Fleet event is open to all members and interested visitors.

The Utah Grizzlies Hockey Club will be holding a Star Wars night on Saturday, April 4th at the Maverik Center. They will be playing against the Tahoe Knight Monsters. A special group discount has been set up for Star Trek fans at this website. Star Trek costumes are being encouraged to see if there might be an interest in holding a Star Trek night next season.

Don’t forget that safety should be at the forefront when you start with your outdoor activities. One of the events that the State of Utah holds every April is the Great Utah Shakeout coming up on April 17th. This is a state-wide earthquake drill that starts at 10:15 am. Information on how to prepare for this drill and how you can protect yourself from earthquakes can be found at the link just posted above.

If the latest online rumors are true, the next season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be released on July 31st.
