One of the biggest reasons that Starfleet Command’s Seventh Fleet has been so successful and long-running is due to it’s members. And we would like to give a big shout out to them for all the help they did at our Utah Food Bank fundraiser at the 2026 Fan X: The Salt Lake Comic Convention.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we didn’t have a confirmation for our FanX booth until mid-August. A lot of our members had already purchased their tickets for the event. When we sent out the word that we needed volunteers to come help set up, man and tear down the booth, we had a LOT of responses. Thank you. You showed the spirit of helping others by stepping forward. Some of you still volunteered even after you had purchased your own admission into the con. We also had enough volunteers that we sent some over to help with Starship Frontier– the Artemis Bridge Simulator.
Not only did we have original Star Trek actress Mary Rice at our booth all three days, but Strange New Worlds actor Ethan Peck showed up to show his support and to see the original series Captain’s Chair replica that we had on display.
We don’t know the total amount that was raised for the Utah Food Bank as some donations were done from the QR codes online, but we know that it was over $600. Again, thank you to all of the volunteers that helped and a big thank you to Dan Farr and his crew at the convention for helping us with our community service charter.
We also had the opportunity to meet a lot of Star Trek fans at the convention from Utah, Idaho and beyond. If you are checking us out, welcome. We hope that you’ll join us for some fun as we Trek through the stars. Feel free to look around or reach out to us using the information on our Online Interest Page, on our Discord Server, our Facebook Page, our BlueSky Account or just email us at Join@SeventhFleet.org.
We also had the 60 Years of Star Trek fandom panel at Fan X. There we talked about some of the fandom efforts that came before us in Utah (standing on the shoulders of giants) and we got to introduce leaders from all of our chapters including the USS White Buffalo, USS Roanoke, USS Pulsar, USS Ticonderoga, USS Kelly, USS Delaware, USS Valkyrie and USS Rendezvous who were all in attendance.
Photos from the convention will soon be posted on our 2026 Online Photo Album. Some of the photos will also end up in our 2027 Seventh Fleet Calendar. If you have photos that you would like to share, please email them to Photos@SeventhFleet.org.
And while we were at the convention, the last episode of Strange New Worlds season four had aired? Now that the season is over, what did you think of it? We can talk about it on our Discord Server or Facebook page.
