As this post is scheduled to go online, SaltCON-Spring will be happening at the Davis Conference Center in Layton. If you want to check out some gaming (and read this in time) feel free to check out the convention.

Speaking of gaming, we are looking for people to run various sit-down games for the upcoming Fleet Day in July (date TBA). We want to run all sorts of Star Trek roleplaying games, board games, card games, tactical games and anything else that sounds like fun. If you would like to assist, please contact your Commanding Officer.

Spring is just around the corner and a lot of us can’t wait for the warmer weather. Don’t forget that safety should be at the forefront when you start with your outdoor activities. One of the events that the State of Utah holds every April is the Great Utah Shakeout coming up on April 17th. This is a state-wide earthquake drill that starts at 10:15 am. Information on how to prepare for this drill and how you can protect yourself from earthquakes can be found at the link just posted above.

No news yet on when we will be getting season three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The moment we have anything we will post it here. If you are needing a Star Trek itch scratched, check out the latest issues of the Star Trek comics by IDW Publishing. They have several ongoing series including a new Star Trek: Lower Decks ongoing line.

2024 is quickly coming to an end and what a wild ride it has been. We are certain that many members of our Star Trek family will be busy with the holidays. So remember to be safe out there when it comes to cooking and travel. The weather in the inter-mountain west can get nasty real quick.

There are only a few episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks left. Please watch them so that Paramount knows that we want more. While this might be the last season, there is talk of future Lower Decks specials or movies.

We have a new social media account to use for communication purposes. With the rapid growth of BlueSky, we felt it was necessary to grab our username that we’ve used on other social media sites. The service has been adding a million members a day. A lot of Star Trek actors and professionals have made the jump as well including William Shatner, Kate Mulgrew, George Takei, Anson Mount, LeVar Burton, Wil Wheaton, Jeri Ryan, Robert Picardo, Michelle Hurd, Wilson Cruz, Todd Stashwick, Chase Masterson, Eugene Roddenberry, Alex Kurtzman, Terry Matalas, Mike McMahan, Mike Okuda, Larry Nemecek and many more. This is what the cover to the 2025 Seventh Fleet Calendar looks like. We still need photos and images for the monthly entries, please send them into Photos@SeventhFleet.org. Working with Gordons Copy and Print we’ve been able to keep the cost at $10 a calendar. The due date for the money to be into your Commanding Officer will be December 20th.

The Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet is the anniversary of our Star Trek family that we hold every January. The USS Rendezvous is coordinating this year’s event. This year the banquet will be held in Richmond at the same location that we had some of our past banquets. This will be held on Saturday, January 25th starting at 11am. The cost for the banquet food will be $5.00, cash at the door. The food will be Dutch Oven Chicken or Pork, potatoes, salad, rolls and desert. There will be a Quark’s Bar run by the USS Valkyrie. There will be ship videos and a silent auction. Volunteers are needed for setup and take down. Please contact your Commanding Officer if you would like to help. This is a uniformed/nice-dressed event for members and their plus ones.

Well, if that wasn’t the most interesting Fleet Day that we’ve had in a long time. It’s not often that you can say three police vehicles showed up to one of our Star Trek events with 100 people in attendance. If you missed out, feel free to ask one of the attendees what happened. You were also missed. Many thanks to the crews of the USS White Buffalo and USS Strymon for all of their hard efforts. Despite the setbacks at the beginning of the event (that also wasn’t their fault) and the weird weather we had that day, we all had a ton of fun. Also a congratulations goes out to the USS Delaware who won the Admiral’s Challenge and gets to hold the Bragging Rights trophy for the year. We hope to see you next year at our annual fun event.

Everyone is talking about the second season of Star Trek Prodigy that was released last month on Netflix. If you haven’t seen it yet, it has been some of the best Star Trek stories seen in a while.

If you like watching Star Trek for free on PlutoTV, they will be adding a Star Trek Movies channel for the month of August. This is in addition to the three other Star Trek channels they are currently running.

FanX: The Salt Lake Comic Convention is quickly coming up in September. They have quite a few Star Trek guests announced. The Seventh Fleet will have a booth on the main vendor’s floor being conducted by the USS Rendezvous. Here we will be displaying the updated Shuttlepod Fairbanks. This will also be the 10th anniversary of the Fairbanks unveiling. The USS White Buffalo will also be running three bridges for the Artemis simulator. Volunteers are needed for both locations. If you would like to volunteer, please contact your Commanding Officer.

We start this post with a sad announcement. The Seventh Fleet would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Captain Ross Trowbridge for the recent passing of his mother. We Do Not Stand Alone and may her memory always be a blessing.

Starting July 1st the second season of Star Trek: Prodigy drops on Netflix. It is twenty 20-minute long episodes. If you can, it is highly advisable to watch them sooner rather than later for two reasons. One, you get to avoid the spoilers that will be coming out very soon. Two, Netflix takes early results into consideration on renewing their shows. A strong showing will, hopefully, get us a season three.

The USS White Buffalo and USS Strymon have been working very hard on the 2024 Fleet Day. This will be held on Saturday, July 27th at Taylorsville Park and will run from 10am-6pm. This is an open event where a lot of the Star Trek family will be in attendance. Bring the kids and bring any interested parties that want to check out the local chapters. We will be having lots of fun, lunch and the annual Admiral’s Challenge after the games. We are looking forward to seeing everyone there.

The Seventh Fleet was saddened to hear of the passing of John G. Trimble. He, with his wife Bjo, ran the letter writing campaign that saved Star Trek back in the 1960’s. He was also very involved with fandom and events such as SCA and conventions. We remember his frequent visits to Utah for both conventions and backyard BBQs. May his memory always be a blessing.

The crew of the USS Discovery is continuing their quest to assemble all of the puzzle pieces before the bad guys get to them. Will they make it? What will the final prize be? What have you thought of season five so far? We are talking about it on our #Spoiler-Zone on the Seventh Fleet Discord Server.

We have a date for our upcoming Fleet Day. The games will be held on Saturday, July 27th at a park in Taylorsville. This is a fun event that everyone can bring their families and friends to attend. Thank you to the USS White Buffalo for putting this Fleet event together.

The Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition Quickstart rules are now available for download for free in PDF. They can be found at this link on DriveThruRPG. The updates look like they will help streamline the system. They already explain the rules quite a bit as compared to the 1st edition quickstart.

The fifth and final season of Star Trek: Discovery is almost upon us. It has been quite a ride. It will be interesting to see where this final adventure takes us. A lot of us have been enjoying Star Trek: Strange New Worlds that was presented to us after the second season of Discovery. We will be watching on Paramount+ on April 4th. Don’t forget that any spoiler discussion of the episodes should take place in the #Spoiler-Zone channel of the Seventh Fleet Discord server.

The filming has completed on the Section 31 movie for Paramount+. There has already been some photos and a special announcement made about one of the characters that had her origins on The Next Generation.

The final season of Star Trek: Discovery will premier on April 4th on the Paramount+ streaming service. This will hopefully lead to several weeks of new Star Trek episodes for us to enjoy.

On the role-playing front, Modiphius has announced that Star Trek Adventures 2nd Edition will be premiering at GenCon coming up in August. If you are interested in hearing more about this updated game (which will be compatible with the first edition) you can sign up for the latest news on the Modiphius website.

It is with a sad heart that we have to report that Commander (Retired) Dalice Nilson passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024. She was the first executive officer of the USS Rendezvous and was a huge force in the development and launching of the Rendezvous in the early 90’s. She always had a smile on her face and she was always happy to see you. She will be missed. The Seventh Fleet would like to extend our condolences to her family.

The 2024 Admiral’s Banquet is this Saturday, February 4th at the Weber County Library Southwest Branch in Roy. We will be starting at 2:00pm. Be there in uniform or nice dress, otherwise you just might find yourself in the brig. (grin) This is the big opportunity to see the extended Star Trek family in one location. The Roy library is just up the street from the Roy Frontrunner stop.

At the Admiral’s Banquet a special award will be handed out to those that have reached Bingo or Blackout in the Seventh Fleet 25th Anniversary Bingo event. What will it be? Come to the banquet to find out.

The Seventh Fleet calendars are done and will be given to the Commanding Officers at the banquet. They will distribute them from there. Thank you to to everyone who submitted photos for the calendar. And a special thank you to Meagan Johnson for putting together the layout for the calendar and Ross Trowbridge for putting together the cover.

Welcome to the year of 2024. There are quite a few things that are coming up for us. First is our annual Seventh Fleet Admiral’s Banquet. While it is called the Admiral’s Banquet, it is really for the Admirals to celebrate the variety of crewmembers. We really are part of a Star Trek family. Normally this is held on the last Saturday of January, however the building that the USS Kelly arranged for us to use was booked up at that time, so we are moving it back one week to Saturday, February 3rd. This is a Uniform or Nice-Dress event for members and their plus ones. This will be held at the Weber County Southwest Library in Roy, Utah and will run from 2-5pm.

At the Admiral’s Banquet, we will be recognizing the members who participated in the 25th Anniversary Bingo. Those that made Bingo and Blackout will receive a special award. This event was a blast to participate in. Most of the photos from this Bingo event were used in the 2024 Seventh Fleet Calendar. If you have ordered a calendar, they will be passed out to the Commanding Officers at the banquet.

What an ending to Star Trek: Picard. Wow! To all of the actors, writers and production personnel we just want to say “Very well done!” If you haven’t seen it yet, we won’t spoil anything for you, but go see it sooner than later. There were a lot of things that we were not expecting. There was a lot of closure and happy moments. Thank you to everyone who worked on this series. Hopefully we will see the (rumored) spin-off that everyone wants to see. Hint: Sign the petition.

If you are missing new Star Trek on Paramount+, you won’t have to wait very much longer. Season two of the very well done (and Bingo inspiring) Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be released on Thursday, June 15th.

Science fiction author Peter David has written several Star Trek novels and comics. We’ve had the opportunity to meet him at FanX: The Salt Lake Comic Convention. Unfortunately he has been experiencing several compounding health issues, which unfortunately have lead to several medical bills. There has been a GoFundMe set up for him and we would like to encourage anyone who can to donate.

Many thanks to the USS Valkyrie for volunteering to coordinate the Seventh Fleet booth at FanX: The Salt Lake Comic Convention. Future details will be announced soon.

And speaking of future events, the USS Pulsar is beyond excited to host the 2023 Seventh Fleet Day on Saturday, June 24th. This will be held in Utah County at a park in Springville. This is a family event that is open to anyone, so bring your guests who may be interested in learning more about our Star Trek family.

There have been lots of pictures sent in for the 25th Anniversary Bingo that we are playing for the entire year. No announcement yet on who will reach BLACKOUT first. Who will make it first? Keep sending your photos into Bingo@SeventhFleet.org. We love seeing the excitement in the crew this celebration has generated.
